Pay for convenience, not for privacy.
Every privacy feature is free. Hosted supernodes are for communities that don't want to manage their own infrastructure.

Self-host for free
The Static supernode is open source under AGPL-3.0. Run it on your own hardware, a VPS, a Raspberry Pi, or in a Docker container. Same privacy guarantees. Same features. No cost.
Privacy is not a tier.
End-to-end encryption, message padding, cover traffic, batch shuffling, ephemeral session identities, and relay routing are included at every pricing tier — including self-hosted. There is no premium privacy plan because privacy is not a feature. It is the architecture.
Questions
What do I get with a hosted supernode?
A managed supernode running on our infrastructure. We handle uptime, updates, backups, and scaling. You get a community that your members can join immediately — no server setup required.
Do I lose privacy with a hosted supernode?
No. The privacy guarantees are identical to self-hosting. The supernode only handles encrypted blobs it cannot read. We do not have access to your messages, member identities, or channel names. E2EE is not a premium feature — it is the architecture.
Can I switch between self-hosted and hosted?
Yes. You can migrate from hosted to self-hosted or vice versa at any time. Your community data is portable.
What privacy features are free?
All of them. End-to-end encryption (MLS), message padding, cover traffic, batch shuffling, ephemeral session identities, and relay routing are included at every tier — including self-hosted. There is no privacy paywall.
Why community-level pricing instead of per-user?
Because Static does not track individual users. We do not know how many people are in your community, and we do not want to. You pay for the infrastructure capacity, not for a headcount we cannot and should not measure.
What happens if I outgrow my tier?
Upgrade at any time. If you need capacity beyond Broadcast (5,000+ members), contact us.
